Self-Employment Programs - Capilano University
Description of ProgramCapilano University’s BOSS Self-Employment Entrepreneurship Program provides its entrepreneurs with practical and current skills, tools and thinking. BOSS entrepreneurs learn more than just book-skills such as accounting, sales, operations, marketing and management; they acquire tools to build and sustain their businesses. BOSS instills its entrepreneurs with knowledge to achieve the results they want. BOSS invites into the program only those entrepreneurs we believe will succeed. Our mentors, advisors and instructors all work together for one outcome: the success of BOSS entrepreneurs. program StructureBOSS consists of 48 weeks of skills sharpening, knowledge building and ideas refining. In addition to our 10-week intensive training immersion, BOSS entrepreneurs receive on-going mentorship, support and advising; they attend BOSS Café every month, and receive further business knowledge through 12 annual Return to Training events. In their first 10 weeks, BOSS entrepreneurs learn to design, adjust and use their Business and Action Plans; refine their target markets; position their unique product and/or service; and work for their businesses rather than in their businesses. The next 38 weeks consist of plan implementation, advising and mentoring. With the support of dedicated business advisors who are industry experts, BOSS entrepreneurs launch their businesses according to the plans they design. MENTORING StructureBOSS provides mentoring support from day one as a tool for business success. Mentoring includes questioning, suggesting options; and celebrating success. At BOSS, entrepreneurs meet with mentors for confidential conversations about possibilities, successes, failures, processes and goals. Entrepreneurs receive the advantage of objective independent thinking supporting their businesses. We match all our mentors and mentees based on their industry and business needs. Next Intake Dates
